Chapter 4 had some very interesting topics, such as reading
with attitude. I had never thought of this or heard of this concept until now.
Reading with attitude refers to the way your changes during your research into
your topic, then writing it down the same way. The book tells me to be wiry of
how I wright and to not take an overly aggressive attitude on topic. The book
advises me to take a critical attitude, not to take whatever I read at first
glance alone and to go over the research material in detail so I can avoid
having bad information. It also tells me to be open about arguments that may
come up in my research, advising me to not wall up my opinion and only write
the parts I want and not the whole story. I also found the section on the
different kinds of analysis helpful as well. The different types of analysis
are Trend, Casual, Data, and Text analysis, each differs from one another in
their own way. Trend analysis is about taking note of the trends (hence its
name) in all of my research and find the ones that hold up against the sands of
time. Trend analysis is about understanding the trends of the past so I can
better understand the same trends that are in the present. Casual analysis is simpler,
it is solely based off of what happens to make a chain of events happen, and so
it is used to find the cause. Data analysis is another simpler form of
analysis, it is based on the cold hard facts that I find in the data I am using
for my paper. Lastly is Text analysis, as its name states text analysis is
about finding the evidence you need is written documents or studies you find.
It is used to find the specific parts of a document that are needed to help
better your paper. These two parts of chapter 4 alone are very important and
interesting to know, I feel that I can now batter analyze my research and use
it to make a better paper.
